Places that name us: RAKA Award contemporary Indigenous visual arts #3 is a travelling exhibition of works by thirteen outstanding contemporary Australian Aboriginal artists, all of whom were short-listed for the prestigious Kate Challis RAKA Award.

Both new and established artists from across have made works that address a range of issues at the heart of contemporary Indigenous culture and experience. The exhibition includes bark and canvas paintings, photography, prints, drawing and sculpture in a carefully selected cross section of contemporary Aboriginal art.

Places that name us: RAKA Award contemporary Indigenous visual arts #3 provides an excellent forum for the discussion of art, Australian Indigenous studies and Australian history.A full public program of activities, educational support materials and artist’s visits will accompany the show, including a specially developed teaching development initiative.

This touring exhibition is a collaborative project between The Ian Potter Museum of Art at theUniversity of Melbourne and National Exhibition Touring Support (NETS) Victoria. The Kate Challis RAKA Award is made possible by the generous patronage of Emeritus Professor Bernard Smith and his family, through the Australian Centre, University of Melbourne
