NETS Victoria is a member of NETS Australia, a national network of touring exhibition agencies located in each state and territory and committed to promoting and presenting contemporary visual arts, craft and design through touring exhibitions of excellence. For further information on NETS Australia please visit www.netsaustralia.org.au.
NETS Victoria was established in 1988 to improve access for regional audiences to contemporary art and craft, and has been housed within the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) since 1991. NETS Victoria is now located at the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia at Federation Square.
NETS Victoria continues to benefit from the NGV&srquo;s generous in-kind assistance, which includes office accommodation, human resources and financial support. The NGV Director, Dr. Gerard Vaughan, is represented on the NETS Victoria Committee of Management by a nominee. Through NETS Victoria, the NGV is able to make a significant commitment to the people of regional Victoria and to smaller communities and galleries in metropolitan Melbourne. NETS Victoria regularly tours exhibitions taken from the collection of the NGV to regional Victoria.
NETS Victoria became an incorporated association in June 1999.
